A Brief Moment in Scripture

D. A. Bolster writes biblical and historical fiction centered on the men and women whose lives are recorded in Scripture, sometimes in only a few verses or a single remarkable moment.

Rooted in the biblical record and supported by historical and cultural research, these stories explore the world surrounding those moments: the places people called home, the customs that shaped their choices, the journeys they traveled, the responsibilities they carried, and the ordinary human experiences Scripture had no reason to record.

The conversations and unseen moments may be imagined. The world surrounding them is researched. And throughout each story, D. A. carefully distinguishes between what Scripture tells us, what history helps us understand, what can reasonably be inferred, and what has been created for the narrative.

Rooted in Scripture

Scripture remains the foundation. We treat what the biblical record tells us as established, while using imagination carefully and respectfully where the text is silent.

Grounded in History

Culture, geography, politics, customs, daily life, travel, work, and the historical world surrounding each story are researched and documented, helping place familiar biblical moments within the world in which they actually occurred.

Human Stories

Behind every brief moment in Scripture was a person who waited, questioned, loved, struggled, chose, and lived without knowing how the story would end. Their world may have been different from ours, but the human experience was not.

Developing Stories

Exploring Scripture, history, and the lives that may have unfolded between the verses.
